The Wrapp The Wide Game Team are pleased to announce yet another successful game was delivered on the night of Friday 6 June 2025. The laughter, the intense energy from beginning to end, and the smiling faces that walked away on the end of the night said it all. The event was held at the Wilston Scout Den and adjacent Lanham Pak. It was attended by 92 Scouts, 16 Venturers, 5 Rovers and 27 Leaders. This year’s theme was loosley based on the popular board game, Monopoly……. except everything was about Garden Gnomes.
We welcomed players to Gnomeville, where like many humans, the young and poor Garden Gnomes aspire to buy their first ever investment property. With a small amount of start-up capital, the poor Garden Gnomes faced many a trial and tribulation as they climbed the Property ladder .......................... doing one’s research, jumping through hoops to obtain finance , negotiating with smooth talking real estate agents, engaging professional consultants such as Surveyors, dealing with corrupt councillors whilst seeking approvals, sourcing scarce materials for construction …………………ll whilst avoiding Jail for misdemeanours fabricated by the competition. It was touching to hear one Scout say at the briefing “But this is not a game, this is reality!“. Leading up to the event, eight articles were written by the highly regarded property analyst, Donald Dunn-Moven. These were released weekly for all to players to read. The articles not only stirred enthusiasm for those that read them but also gave players a hint of what activities were in store on the game night. Players were: Scouts, in their Patrols, played the smallest Gnomes - the poor garden Gnomes Venturers, as the mid-sized Gnomes, ran the six "Businesses" ( Activity bases ) of Gnomeville. Rovers, the largest Gnomes acted as tax collectors for the Gnomeville Office of Tax Revenue, ran the Jail and administered the Community Vest Fund – all from one building to save on rent! Adult Leaders, being the interruptive element played the well-dressed elderly Gnomes. As Community Vests they stopped Patrols in between the Businesses and handed out Jewels of Wisdom Gift Cards – these may have been good or bad, such as get out of jail free, collect $50 as a prize for winning a gardening contest, pay a $50 fine due to a recent tax audit ,go directly to jail and many cards had questions about the articles written by Donald Dunn-Moven
Congratulations to the winning patrol -- the Top Hat Toad Stools of Bracken Ridge - for a great effort.
