Congratulations to Aspley's Dragon Patrol for being the overall winners of the 2023 Wide Game - The Dream Zone
Yep, over the years we have played out a reality , but for something different , we have said "tell em they're dream'n". This year we upped the ante on Youth Run bit by asking Venturers to take a lead role in the planning , organising and execution of the Dream Sequences (activity bases) , whilst us Adult Leaders as the Dream Catchers wondered around in a Zombie like state interrupting the Dreamers (Scouts) in their quest to Dream every Dream!" Will this concept work , will Venturers take the lead , can we expect our Adult Leaders to act and look like Zombies " are the many questions we asked ourselves leading up to the event . As Badger and I visited each Dream Sequence last night it was great to see Venturers actively rolling out their Dream Sequence with a bit of help from the Leaders. Also pleasing to see the Dream Catchers hard at work . Just goes to show , it's OK to Dream the Impossible Dream, and even if others say you are a dreamer , I am sure you are not the only one ...................let the Dream become your reality . The concept actually worked !If you can work it into your program, we would appreciate feedback from you and the youth ....................................and while you are in that state of mind, dream up a concept for 2024! Look forward to hearing from you soon.CheersDunnart
New ConceptAs with all Scouting events, the Widegame team uses the Plan - Do - Review process but this year, we tried a new concept. As usual, the widegame team did the ‘Plan’ part for the overall game plan. Venture Scouts took over the planning, organizing and running of the activity bases . We hope that our ventures gained valuable experience by learning new skills. which will be useful to then in later life.
