Congratulations to Aspley's Dragon Patrol for being the overall winners of the 2023 Wide Game - The Dream Zone
Yep, over the years we have played out a reality , but for something different , we have said "tell em they're dream'n". This year we upped the ante on Youth Run bit by asking Venturers to take a lead role in the planning , organising and execution of the Dream Sequences (activity bases) , whilst us Adult Leaders as the Dream Catchers wondered around in a Zombie like state interrupting the Dreamers (Scouts) in their quest to Dream every Dream! " Will this concept work , will Venturers take the lead , can we expect our Adult Leaders to act and look like Zombies " are the many questions we asked ourselves leading up to the event . As Badger and I visited each Dream Sequence last night it was great to see Venturers actively rolling out their Dream Sequence with a bit of help from the Leaders. Also pleasing to see the Dream Catchers hard at work . Just goes to show , it's OK to Dream the Impossible Dream, and even if others say you are a dreamer , I am sure you are not the only one ...................let the Dream become your reality . The concept actually worked ! If you can work it into your program, we would appreciate feedback from you and the youth ....................................and while you are in that state of mind, dream up a concept for 2024! Look forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers Dunnart
New Concept As with all Scouting events, the Widegame team uses the Plan - Do - Review process but this year, we tried a new concept. As usual, the widegame team did the ‘Plan’ part for the overall game plan. Venture Scouts took over the planning, organizing and running of the activity bases . We hope that our ventures gained valuable experience by learning new skills. which will be useful to then in later life.
From Victoria A Unit Scout Leader Great to see you. Thanks for a great event. It was our first time and the Scouts loved it. They definitely had a lot of fun and tired, my two are still sleeping. We do appreciate having the opportunity to participate as you and the team run some awesome activities. Cheers - Andy
